Happy Friday Eve!
Hey yall hey!
Instead of our regular hump day chat, we're getting a remix and quick tip on how to reframe our thinking this week! Generally I send out email mid-week and at the end of the week. Things happened and my email for yesterday didn't go out. For many people this could bring on a lot of self-critical talk and depression, but for me it's an opportunity to share another way to manage missing a goal. Here's a peek into my process and an example of content that I share in my programs.
So I wake up today and realize that my email didn't go out. Instant irritation! 😤😤😤 I allow myself a moment or two to let my mind go through various scenarios of what could happen and then took a deep breath. Yep, the first step is almost always a deep breath. Breathwork can support activating the parasympathetic nervous system which helps to calm anxiousness. After a few deep breaths you have given yourself mental space from the challenging thoughts almost as if you have taken a few steps back. That space allows you room to consider what are the options for next steps.
So for me, it was one of two options:
Just consider the mid-week email skipped OR
Create an email for today
Clearly, I chose the send option. Once that decision was made, I could then think about how can I put a positive spin on this. Well, most people enjoy Friday, so why don't we start that celebration early! Feel free to start thinking about the ways that you are going to positively experience the world this weekend. Some of you may be spending it with family. Some of you may decide to be outdoors. And, another group may choose physical rest by staying in bed late. Whatever your choice, be present and enjoy each moment of it!
